Indian Consulate in Jeddah Marks 79th Independence Day with Pride and Unity

JEDDAH. The Consulate General of India in Jeddah celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day with patriotic spirit, cultural pride, and enthusiastic participation from the Indian community, Saudi dignitaries, and friends of India.

The morning began with the hoisting of the Indian National Flag by Consul General Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The Consul General then read the Hon’ble President of India’s address to the nation, which reflected on India’s achievements over the past 78 years and outlined the vision for the country’s future.

In his own remarks, Mr. Suri emphasized the strong and growing partnership between India and Saudi Arabia. He praised the Indian diaspora in the Western Province for their contributions in strengthening bilateral relations and highlighted the consulate’s ongoing initiatives, urging the community to remain actively engaged.

The celebrations also included a lively cultural program. Students from Indian schools in Jeddah performed patriotic songs that stirred feelings of pride and unity among the audience. A major attraction was the Tiranga Exhibition, part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, which showcased rare photographs, creative displays, and informative panels about the Indian National Flag.

Adding flavour to the festivities, guests enjoyed a spread of traditional dishes from across India, offering a taste of the nation’s rich culinary diversity. The Consulate expressed gratitude to all volunteers, participants, and guests whose efforts made the event a success.
