JEDDAH. The Ministry of Culture has unveiled Culture Square, a landmark project that promises to redefine cultural experiences in the historic Jeddah district. Culture Square aims to position the district as a global tourist destination, in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Vision 2030.
Located along the picturesque Al-Arbaeen Lagoon, Culture Square stands as a testament to Saudi Arabia’s commitment to preserving heritage while embracing technological innovation. The project seamlessly blends traditional architecture with cutting-edge cultural experiences, creating a global-class destination that attracts both local and international visitors.
World-Class Cultural Venues
Spanning a total area of approximately 26,000 square meters, Culture Square comprises two main parts of the project. The Performing Arts Centre and Digital Art Museum. Performing Arts Center is a 16,000 sq. meter complex hosting international festivals, theatrical performances, and film screenings. This will be the headquarters of the Red Sea Film Festival. It features a grand entrance lobby, a main theater with 868 seats, five cinema halls with 564 seats, a versatile internal lobby, nine dialogue halls, a cinematheque, a restaurant, and three cafes.
The teamLab Borderless Digital Arts Museum covering 10,000 square meters, will showcase 80 interconnected artworks symbolizing a world without boundaries. The museum blends art, technology, and nature.
Architectural Marvel
The project meticulously restores the historic Bait Amir Al Bahar, a landmark building that once served as a lighthouse. Its unique design preserves the region’s architectural heritage while incorporating modern architectural principles that harmonize with the surrounding landscape.
Sustainability at its Core
Culture Square demonstrates environmental leadership through advanced 100% air purification technology, touchless elevators with ultraviolet sterilization, innovative water conservation systems recycling cooling unit condensate.
Aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the project aims to transform historic districts into economic opportunities, position Jeddah as a global cultural destination and preserve and celebrate Saudi cultural heritage. Culture Square will be a bridge connecting Saudi Arabia’s rich past with its innovative future.
