JEDDAH. Mr. Shakkir Hussain, a prominent Indian entrepreneur based in Jeddah, has been appointed to the Committee for Organizing Conferences, Events, and Exhibitions at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Hussain is the only foreign national in this committee and his inclusion underscores the Kingdom’s demonstrable commitment to attracting and valuing international investors as it pursues its ambitious economic diversification agenda under Saudi Vision 2030.
“This prestigious membership is both a privilege and a responsibility,” Mr. Hussain said adding that his appointment as a key indicator of the evolving business environment in the Kingdom. He stressed the symbolic significance of the move, noting, “The inclusion of a foreign entrepreneur within a Saudi Chamber of Commerce highlights the Kingdom’s openness and its genuine commitment to foreign investors. Saudi Arabia continues to show that international investments and investors are valued and welcomed.”
His role is expected to provide a crucial bridge for foreign-led investments, particularly those aimed at supporting the growth of the vital Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector.
A central goal for his tenure on the committee will be to bolster the Kingdom’s standing as a global hub for global business and trade events. Mr. Hussain’s extensive experience in organizing large-scale events will be key to this effort. “One of my key priorities will be to contribute to bringing more high-quality international exhibitions and business events to Saudi Arabia and help positioning the Kingdom as a global hub for world-class trade platforms and investment-driven events that support SMEs and long-term economic diversification.”
Expressing gratitude to the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce for their confidence, Mr. Hussain said: “I remain fully committed to supporting the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia (MISA) and its strategies by guiding, advising, and assisting fellow international investors looking to establish and expand their presence in Saudi Arabia.”
